Mosman Council celebrated International Women’s Day on 8 March with an inspirational and entertaining guest speaker breakfast event at Mosman Art Gallery.
Di Westaway, founder and Managing Director of Wild Women on Top, an adventure fitness company and Coastrek, shared her experiences of how she came about becoming the fitness expert she is and her tips of how women of all ages can be inspired and empowered to achieve extraodinary goals. She also shared stories of the challenges and achievements of other women who have trained and climbed mountains with her and her team.
Over 120 women and a few men of various ages attended the event with local primary students from Middle Harbour Public School, Queenwood School for Girls, Sacred Heart Primary School, and SCECGS Redlands. Tania Burchell, an event attendee commented, “Di’s story is very real, honest, easy to relate to and attainable. Her tips are very applicable to various goals in life.”
Some of Di’s tips include:
•Never give up
•Ordinary women do do extraordinary things
•Together with others, you can achieve more
•It is ok to make mistakes along the way, learn from them
•Find something you love, then you won’t need to ‘work’
•Believe in the power of passion and positive thinking
•Set big goals
•As quoted by St Augustine, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”
